When sorting larger batches of brass, checking every case individually can be time-consuming, and it is easy to miss a case with a different length or a different flash-hole configuration. The tray allows you to arrange 100 cases at once in a 10 × 10 layout, making differences between individual case types much easier to spot and verify.
